Buddy is my 8 year old yellow Labrador. Buddy has lots of experience working therapeutically alongside me and provides a calming effect in the room. Having a friendly animal present can help reduce blood pressure and improve overall cardiovascular health. It can also release endorphins that produce a calming effect. This can help alleviate pain and reduce stress.
Quite often beginning counselling can be a scary and nerve wracking process. Buddy always lends a hand in making that experience more calming and will defiantly force the attention on him temporarily!
If having buddy as part of your therapy is something you wish to explore, please discuss this with me in your initial appointment.
